3.) Joel Reese -
Story
By the
tender age of three, Joel had set his mind to becoming an
entertainer, a cowboy, or both!

While
living on a ranch in Temecula, California in the late
1960’s, Joel would sing along with country music stars on his
little transistor radio and watch Johnny Cash and Glen
Campbell’s
musical variety shows on television.

Ten years later,
while spending
summers on his grandparent’s ranch in Llano, Texas, he met
Darrell Staedtler who had written three songs for George Strait.
“Darrell showed me how to write songs and gave me the
confidence
I needed to learn to play the guitar.”
Later, Joel’s professional music career would begin in pizza
parlors and nightclubs in Oklahoma City where he attended high
school.

Talent contests,
special events and even a stint as a big band vocalist
helped prepare Joel for his first big trip to Nashville in 1986 where
he performed in the Opryland music theme park. Joel worked with many
talented performers including Minnie Pearl. “Minnie Pearl was
a
very special lady. She gave me some important advice that I live by to
this day. She smiled from under her trademark hat and said, ‘
“Love your audience and they will love you back!”
’
The
90’s found Joel back in Southern California where he formed a
band and played everything from rodeos and corporate events to Wal-Mart
grand openings and Concerts.
Something very special
happened to Joel and his wife in 1991, a little girl was born!

“Our
daughter inspired me to write children’s music and a tender,
teacher’s side of me
began emerging.
I continued to play the popular adult music, but I
began performing even more for children.”
From
Opryland to LEGOLAND, Joel brings twenty-three years of musical
entertainment experience, as well as fifteen years of Kindergarten-8th
Grade edu-tainment programs to you and your family.
Joel is one of the songwriters used by The Country
Music Hall of Fame for their “Words and Music”
elementary
school programs. Joel enjoys recording family and children’s
music and performing for family and educational events across the
country.
During keynotes
and workshops, Joel shows students the tools
that took him from not believing he could play guitar or write songs in
the 3rd Grade, to his playing for President Bush and writing songs for
the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center’s “Ready, Set, Van
Gogh” program.
4.) Joel Alan
Reese
Joel
Alan Reese, entertainer, song writer and recording artist brings a wide
range
of moving music to
his shows, including songs
co-written with students during
“arts-in-the-schools” residencies.
From
folk styles, adult-contemporary, Americana,
country and comedy,
to inspiring originals and instrumentals,
Joel has been called a consummate entertainer.
Living in Tennessee from 2001-2007 helped Joel mature as an artist. "Rubbing shoulders
with great songwriters and musicians helped to take my craft to the
next level.
In a town with thousands of people doing
what I do, I had to
find my voice and niche and polish it, or I would've
starved,"
laughs Joel.
"Painting
life through music
is where it's at for me," exclaims Joel. “I always
sing a few new
compositions such as Wagon Wheels and Wheat Fields
and Paintbrush
Ballet during my concerts.
I
believe the power of music is medicine for most anything that ails
you. "I'm primarily a
storytelling balladeer.
But as an entertainer I like to rock it up a bit, make people laugh and
move
them through a range of emotions and musical
styles." Joel’s music
has been described as refreshing, rich and piercing.
With a voice as smooth as
fresh cream on a summer
peach, Joel croons the soaring ballads and effortlessly adapts
to the
edgier , fun country
rockers as well.

Joel
has performed with artists
such as Tim Rushlow (formerly of Little Texas), Wayne Brady, Minnie
Pearl and
Barbara Mandrell and has opened concerts for Loretta Lynn,
Colin Raye,
Mark Chestnut and more.
Dedicated to entertaining and inspiring
people, Joel comments, "I have one of the most rewarding jobs
on
earth. I believe the power of music is medicine for most
anything that ails
you. I enjoy attending concerts where
the artists and their music
transport me to a 'forget-your-troubles' kind of
place. And it's
always a bonus when I leave a concert with the inspiration
to be a better
person. That's what I aim to do when
I perform for others. When toes
are tapping, heads are swaying and the
smiles appear...then I know
I'm really doing my job."
Over
the years Joel has enjoyed the
privilege of performing coast to coast for
special guests such as
President George W. Bush and Barbara Walters. “‘Be
skilled and go before kings’
is the advice I’ve always tried to follow. The
musical journey has
been full of many rewards and surprises!
” adds Joel.
“I
attended a George Benson concert
a few years ago and spent some time visiting with him afterwards.
George gave
me a huge compliment. He said, ‘I like your
enunciation and that smooth
country edge in your voice.’ Commendation like that
from a gentleman and
jazz legend will last me a lifetime,” reflects Joel.
Joel writes many of his own
songs,
one published by George
Strait’s company
in Nashville.
Joel is
among the Nashville, Tennessee songwriters working with The Country
Music Hall
of Fame for their “Words and Music” program for
local elementary schools.
Passionate about
literacy and character, Joel is especially fond of working
with children in schools. Arts Ed Coordinator, Susan Eaton Ed D from
Vanderbilt
University commissioned Joel to compose classical songs for the
program,
‘Ready, Set, Van Gogh!’, which showcases his
artistic range and versatility beyond
the traditional cowboy hat and lasso that child audiences have come to
treasure. Joel Alan Reese brings the same zest and enthusiasm
for living
the arts and creating music to each unique concert experience!
