  A
Warm, Interactive, Engaging Performer... His love for children is contageous!"
   Students, Teacher and Organizations:
Celebrating sixteen years of Pre-K-12th Grade edu-tainment programs, Joel is committed to inspiring teachers and their students for the passionate development of character, service, self-esteem and life-long learning. Joel is one of the songwriters used by The Country Music Hall of Fame for their “Words and Music” elementary school programs. Joel shows students the tools that took him from not believing he could play guitar or write songs in the 3rd Grade, to his playing for former Texas Governor, George W. Bush and writing songs for the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center’s “Ready, Set, Van Gogh” program.

   Show Format:
 Singing - Dancing - Guitaring - Roping - Puppeteering

Joel’s interactive shows are packed with singable  songs, skits, and humor. From the very beginning,  Joel coaches and commends students with positive  reinforcement, setting a model for expected behavior.  Students take an imaginary, educational trip to “Rise  and Shine Ranch” and a "Baja Beach Party" where  they join Joel's horse puppet, Buster Bronco for some fun life lessons.

Each aspect of the show supports and develops the chosen theme and educational values.

TAKE THE 60 MIN. SONG WRITING CHALLENGE!

I just performed my "Giddy up and Rope A Book" literacy assembly for the first school of the new school-year. After the assembly, we combined the fourth and fifth grade classes in a room equipped with two chalk boards. We brainstormed a song idea, characters and a story-line.

Lyric lines were flying from students as I scribbled fast and furiously on the board. Within sixty minutes we filled both chalk boards with the lyrics to a complete song. We titled it, "Comanche," about a horse used for a rescue.

I believe the experience was very empowering, both to the students and their teachers. They were amazed by all having contributed to writing a complete song in such a short time. I went home to my studio, recorded and published it on my website that afternoon so they could listen immediately.

It's just a rough demo for now, but it proves a point. I believe that all students can create and are capable of greatness! It's my hope that this kind of hands-on experience will create a "success memory" that will empower them in their future endeavors.
